Why Spiritual Companioning?

Life-altering events – whether the sudden diagnosis of a life-threatening illness, the loss of a loved one, or the gradual process of aging- often initiate a transformation of how we view ourselves and what matters most to us. Such change offers an invitation to examine our lives, what we thought we knew to be true, what we believe in. It can also spark a desire to connect more deeply with life’s mystery and meaning, with what is most sacred to us.

Living more contemplatively amidst the noise of our everyday lives is indeed a challenge.  In spiritual companionship, we create the space, time and stillness so that the small, quiet voice of our soul - our wellspring of what is true and holy in us - is revealed and can be heard.

“Perhaps the secret of living well is not in having all the answers but in pursuing unanswerable questions in
good company.”
— Rachel Naomi Remen

Come as you are

Having a certain set of personal beliefs, religious upbringing, or faith system is not a condition of spiritual companioning.  All you need is the willingness to rest awhile, open your heart and look for the Holy in the everyday. There is no “one right way”; seeking spiritual companioning is about showing up with the desire to explore and reflect, and letting the Divine do the rest.

When you choose to connect more deeply to the Divine, I am there to help you “follow the thread” and absorb the truths you discover into your life going forward, encouraging you to draw closer to your essence.

Spiritual Companioning:

  • A deep blue river flows between two mountains. The mountains have evergreen trees near the base and become brown rock as they grow higher. The sun is not visible through the thick clouds, but casts bright spots on the mountains where it peeks through

    Is about loving presence...

…not deliverance or frenetic “fixing”. I do not direct, but serve as companion and witness to your spiritual exploration and growth in whatever way that presents itself and at your own pace.

  • Two people sitting in outdoor chairs under a tree are silhouetted by a pink and orange sunset

    Invites Conversation...

…between you, me and the Sacred. I am here to honor your story that connects you to your most authentic self, giving you a feeling of oneness, whether that is found in nature, God, the universe or a deeper sense of belonging to what is outside of ourselves.

  • A body of water softly reflects the grey and blue sky above it, with mountains in the distance and a rock jutting out of the water in the middle of the frame

    Offers the opportunity to reflect...

on what is stirring your soul, the questions you are pondering, and where grace touches us. Deep sharing with another can be transformational: it facilitates seeing ourselves for who and where we are in life as we examine what we believe to be true, heal old wounds and confirm what truly matters in our lives, what longs to be acknowledged.

My way of companioning is through:

Sacred Space

Creating a safe, sacred space that cultivates trust and invites silence, deep listening and reflection.

Discernment

Opening the way to discernment and Divine guidance through such avenues as prayer, meditation, readings and silence

Reflecting

Noting and reflecting on significant insights from you

Spirit’s Presence

Acknowledging the presence of Spirit in experiences and feelings

Integration

Encouraging the integration of spirituality into your daily life

Nurturing

Nurturing that connection to the Sacred through a variety of ways, including contemplative photography, poetry, creative prayer practices and bodywork

Fuzzy white wildflowers spring from the ground in front of a pale blue sky that is just beginning to turn orange in the sunset

My Wish For You…

Is for you to develop a more conscious relationship to what you hold sacred.  As your Spiritual Companion, I commit to offering you unconditional support for your own spiritual formation, to serve as a compassionate witness reflecting your light, illuminating your unique path.

Your soul already knows the way to wholeness and healing. Spirit always moves you toward reconciliation, wisdom, love. It continually guides you back to center, to what gives you meaning and purpose.
